64% Want Government to Remain in Power

The majority of people living in Bangkok would like the Abhisit Vejjajiva Government to continue to administer the country - according to a recent University poll.

Bangkok University Poll found that 64.8% would like the Government to remain in power. Only 17.3% would like to see a House dissolution and a general election, and 10.4% would welcome a cabinet reshuffle,

On their satisfaction with the Government's performance in the past three months, respondents give the Government 5.17 out of 10 -- down 0.25 on two months ago.

They are most happy with the Government's performance in the fields of international relations(5.32),  followed by society and quality of life (5.26) and national security (5.12).

The majority of respondents also said  the Government does not have to clarify any matters following the no-censure debate last week. About 75% said all the matters are clear while 25% think the government owes the public explanations on issues including the past behaviour of Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya and the 258-million-baht donation made to Democrat party.

The survey, conducted from Saturday to Monday, assessed the opinions of 1,137 people who are over 18 years of age living in Bangkok.
