Bangkok Governor Elect Sukhumbhand Vows to Serve All

Meanwhile, Pheu Thai candidate Yuranan Pamorn-montri thanked all those who voted for him. He vowed to continue playing a political role even if he lost the battle.

Yuranan was placed second in exit polls, followed by ML Nattakorn Devakula and Kaewsan Atibhodi.

Nattakorn said the votes he earned demonstrated a group of people's willingness to welcome a new breed of politicians, though most tended to vote for candidates of established political parties.

He added that he would spend the next few years strengthening his political background before entering the field again.

For his part, Kaewsan plans to establish the New Bangkok Group to seek help for communities and the city.

Regarding the low number of votes, he said that voters chose to pay less attention to "integrated" and "complete" policies than to political parties, hence they voted with parties in mind rather than solely concentrating on the individual's policies.
