Sukhumbhand Seeks Help from Netherlands to Stop Coastal Erosion in Bang Khunthien
Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra yesterday took the Dutch ambassador to inspect the Bang Khunthien coast to seek advice from Dutch experts how to stop the coastal erosion.
Sukhumbhand flew on a police helicopter with Tjaco Theo Van Den Hout, the Dutch ambassador to Thailand, Deputy Metropolitan Police Commissioner Pol Maj Gen Phanu Kerdlarp and Traffic Police Commander Pol Maj Gen Weeraphat Tankhrisakul to inspect the coast.
Sukhumbhand said over one kilometer of the coast had been eroded by the sea tide, and the situation was worsening.
He said the Dutch ambassador promised to have Dutch experts inspect the area as soon as possible to help draft the master plan to stop the coastal erosion.
Sukhumbhand said the master plan may be completed in two or three years.
