Koh Phangan - New Year and Christmas
Koh Phangan is one of the most popular and beautiful Islands in Thailand. Famed for the Full Moon Party which attracts some 30,000 to Haad Rin beach to celebrate the lunar event the Island has grown amazingly over the past few years with a wide variety of accommodation that ranges from basic backpacker resorts to luxury five star hotels. There are numerous activities on the Island including elephant trekking, diving, cooking schools, wave boarding, snorkeling trips, Island boat trips, Thai boxing lessons, yoga retreats and the simple feeling of staying on an Island which has vast swathes of unspoilt tropical paradise.
Whilst Haad Rin is a mecca for loud music and all night partying the rest of the Island offers miles of glorious sandy beaches. Some of these beach destinations offer quiet, peaceful undisturbed vacations and others have beach bars and beachfront restaurants with dancing into the small hours. Guests are then taxied into Haad Rin for the party – the best of both worlds.
In December to celebrate the festive season there are three major parties at Haad Rin. These will be held on the 21st (Full Moon Party), 25th (Christmas Party) and 31st of December 2010 (New Year Countdown). Each party will be the equivalent of the monthly full moon party with up to 30,000 attending.
