64% Want Government to Remain in Power

The majority of people living in Bangkok would like the Abhisit Vejjajiva Government to continue to administer the country - according to a recent University poll. Bangkok University Poll found that 64.8% would like the Government to remain in power. Only 17.3% would like to see a House dissolution and a general election, and 10.4% would welcome a cabinet reshuffle. On their satisfaction with the Government's performance in the past three months, respondents give the Government 5.17 out of 10 -- down 0.25 on two months ago.

A drug trafficking gang rocked by a police crackdown is now thought to have been behind the unexploded bombs found in this southern province on Wednesday. Police Region 8 chief Santan Chayanont yesterday said the bombs appeared to be aimed at creating public disquiet rather than damage as well as discrediting Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban, the Surat Thani MP who is in charge of national security. Five bombs were planted at four locations in Muang and Kanchanadit districts.
